Terence E. Patterson


Terence E. Patterson Terence Patterson, EdD, ABPP, has been a tenured Professor and Director of the PsyD program in clinical psychology at the University of San Francisco. He is a licensed psychologist and is Board certified in Family Psychology with the American Board of Professional Psychology and an APA Fellow. In addition to family psychology, he specializes in ethical issues, couple therapy, behavioral health, and theoretical integration in psychotherapy, and has taught in these areas in doctoral programs and Marriage and Family Therapy Programs. Dr. Patterson was President of the Division of Family Psychology of the American Psychological Association in 2001, President of the Association for Family Therapy of Northern California in 2007-08, and a member of the California Psychological Association Ethics Committee and the American Board of Couple & Family Psychology. Dr. Patterson is currently in independent practice in San Francisco and has recently authored Real World Couple Counseling and Therapy with Dr. Jerrold Shapiro of Santa Clara University. He remains a consultant, presenter, and clinician with a varied practice.
