This video consists of two films:
- Women’s Rites by Georgina Jahner
- BodySpeaks by Comer Rudd-Gates
The art imagery and dance/movements of these women in treatment are rich and beautiful, accompanied by the words of their creators and their therapists, sensitively describing the healing experienced through these interventions. Together these films present a foundation for understanding how the expressive arts promote hope, healing, and therapeutic change for persons recovering from traumatic events such as abuse, war, addiction, loss and those seeking relief from their eating disorders of anorexia, bulimia, compulsive eating, and distorted body image. To the very last frame, one will leave with a final uplifting image of therapeutic processes offering hope and healing in group and individual treatment.
