You may be interested to know that this video was the beginning of psychotherapy.net! Victor Yalom, the founder, had the privilege of studying with Dr. Bugental for 10 years. He recognized his work as that of a true master, and felt it needed to be recorded on video, especially as Bugental was 80 years old at the time of the filming (unfortunately he suffered a stroke soon thereafter, and died several years later). We are pleased that we successfully captured his brilliance and are able to offer it to the therapeutic community. Given the newfound interest in mindfulness, it is worth noting that Bugental had been advocating and instructing in the importance of therapist and client presence for several decades. After this video was completed, one thing led to another, and psychotherapy.net was born. And the rest is history!
By watching this video, you will be able to:
- Increase understanding of facilitating client and therapist presence.
- Increase understanding of working with resistance (to fuller living, not just to therapy).
- Increase understanding of balancing confrontation with support.
- Increase understanding of reinforcing client subjectivity as fertile ground for true depth work.
- Increase awareness of the developmental influences and primary theoretical constructs of Existential/Humanistic psychotherapy.
- Increase understanding of the primary Existential/Humanistic therapeutic tools and interventions.
